Iconic Drawer Systems

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

At this time all Iconic Drawer Systems are available by quote only. Pricing depends on configuration, number of drawers, dimensions, and options like dividers. Use our online builder to configure your system and request a quote.

Iconic drawer systems are pretty much universal-fit. Our adjustable mounting lets you install drawers in nearly any toolbox compartment or service body, including fire trucks, tow trucks, and service trucks. You’re not locked into any single vehicle or body manufacturer.

The right size drawer system for your service truck depends on three things: your compartment or toolbox’s interior dimensions, how many drawers you want, and what equipment you’re storing. The easiest way to determine what drawer system will fit your truck is to measure the usable space inside your compartment or toolbox, accounting for opening sizes, door hinges, latches, flanges, and any other potential obstructions that could interfere with installation. Then use the Iconic Drawer System Builder to configure a system that's custom-made to your specifications.

Most likely. While our drawer systems do have some sizing limitations, they are designed to be retrofit-friendly and can be installed into most existing toolboxes or service body compartments. This means that, yes, you can add Iconic Drawer Systems to a truck that’s already in service without necessarily replacing the toolbox, compartment, or entire service body.

Absolutely. Retrofitting is one of the most common uses. As long as your compartment has enough interior space, our aluminum drawer systems can be installed into almost any work truck, including fire, tow, service trucks and more. The universal mounting system makes retrofit installation straightforward with no need to buy a whole new truck body. We do, however, recommend checking with the manufacturer of the service body or toolbox to confirm their weight capacity before installing drawer systems. Just in case.

Aluminum drawer systems are approximately 30 - 50% lighter than steel while maintaining comparable strength, which means more capacity for tools, parts, and equipment. Aluminum also resists corrosion without needing to be coated. Steel, on the other hand, is heavier and prone to rust over time. Our aluminum drawer systems offer the ideal balance of durability and weight savings.

Each iconic drawer is rated for 500lbs capacity. More than enough for most trucks and industries. With that in mind, we recommend confirming your toolbox or body manufacturer’s capacity limits to ensure they can support a drawer system that’s loaded up with equipment.

Iconic offers optional adjustable dividers that slot into the drawer in 2-inch increments. You can rearrange or even remove them anytime your tool layout changes. No tools required. No permanent commitment to a layout.

No. Iconic Drawer Systems are built with high-quality drawer slides and a full-width slam latch that keeps drawers firmly closed while driving. When properly installed in a toolbox or service body compartment, the drawers stay secure even on rough terrain or on tight turns.

With durable aluminum construction and high-quality slides, a well-maintained drawer system can last the life of a truck. Aluminum won’t rust, and the slides are built for daily wear and tear. Most failures in the industry come from inadequate components, improper materials, or poor build quality. We’ve done our homework to make sure we don’t fall into any of these categories.

Iconic drawer systems mount using a universal adjustable mounting system that secures to the floor and side walls of your compartment or toolbox. Our mounting system ensures a proper fit without complex fabrication. Click here to download our installation instructions.

You can install drawer systems yourself if you’ve got the right tools and know-how, but we always recommend having it done by a truck upfitter or mechanic. A professional installation ensures the drawer system is safely secured and ready to handle daily use without issues down the road. Click here to download our installation instructions.

Yes. Drilling is required to secure the drawer system to the floor and sidewalls of the toolbox or compartment. Click here to download our installation instructions.

Measure the internal width, height, and depth of each compartment. Include or account for door openings, bulb seal, hinges, and flanges in your measurements to ensure clearance for drawer slides. Once measured, input your specs into the Iconic Drawer System builder to get the best fit.

This differs from mechanic to mechanic and is largely dependent on personal preference and the tools they carry regularly, but mobile mechanics typically prefer multi-drawer systems for storing their equipment.

Because hydrovac trucks often run near their gross vehicle weight limits, an aluminum drawer system is a go-to choice for them. Aluminum drawer systems can be about 30 to 50% lighter than steel, and help keep your truck’s weight down while providing the storage you need.

Our best recommendation is to keep hand tools and small parts in the shallow upper drawers, and heavier items in deeper lower drawers. Iconic’s 500lbs-capacity aluminum drawers and adjustable dividers make it easier to separate and organize parts and tools to prevent clutter and keep everything within reach.

This really comes down to personal preference and the kind of work you do. A great way to set up your drawer system layout is by frequency of use. Keep tools you reach for most at an easy height and group items by task to stay organized and efficient on the job. Adjustable dividers also make it easy to tweak each drawer as your setup changes, keeping everything neat and easy to find.

Yes. Iconic Drawer Systems deliver measurable ROI by reducing technician labor time, minimizing tool damage, and improving productivity. Organized service trucks allow crews to complete jobs faster, minimize tool damage. Even saving a few minutes per job adds up to hundreds of labor hours per year, often allowing the system to pay for itself within months while improving fleet efficiency and professionalism.

Absolutely. When tools and parts are stored in a logical, consistent layout using Iconic Drawer Systems, technicians spend less time searching and more time working. With the right drawer configuration and dividers for your setup, everything stays organized and easy to access, resulting in faster service calls and increased daily productivity.

Iconic Drawer Systems make fleet standardization easy by letting you configure one drawer layout and apply it across every vehicle in your fleet. Each truck gets the same setup: the same drawer sizes, the same divider layout, the same tool placement. Every technician will always know exactly where to find and return every part or tool. This consistency reduces training time, prevents mix-ups between vehicles, and keeps your entire fleet operating smoothly and efficiently.
